It’s easy to find out! All you need is the name of the company to be sure. All legal limousine and sedan operators operating in Tampa, Hillsborough County and from the Tampa International Airport must be licensed, inspected and governed by the Hillsborough County Tax Collector and can be verified by calling:

Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Ask the limousine company for their certificate number. If the company cannot provide a verifiable certificate number then they are operating illegally, most likely have been denied a license because they were under or uninsured, did not pass an FBI background check, had poorly maintained old vehicles and unsafe drivers or they are just a referral company with no vehicles of their own.

The tax collector certifies that all companies are insured and that chauffeurs have had a federal criminal background check. This ensures that all legal companies and chauffeurs, do not have a criminal background.
